The weekend of 23rd and 24th March marked the beginning of a new journey for our khoja community in Paris where the first ever CoEJ Youth Development Programme (YDP) took place at Mehfil e Zainab, La Courneuve, Paris. A total of 20 participants spent the weekend learning about a variety of different skill sets that would help them in their lives ahead. Skills such as self-confidence, communication skills and team building exercises helped participants gain a more wholistic understanding of themselves and how they can have a more positive influence at university, at home, in their marriages and in their community work.
Alhamdullilah, the event went very smoothly with the support of 8 facilitators and a variety of volunteers working behind the scenes. The YDP was conducted almost entirely in French and the participants were fully involved in every aspect of the YDP throughout the weekend. The success of this event was not only down to facilitators but this was a concerted team effort. Our thanks goes to the CoEJ EC, the CoEJ Secretariat, the volunteers of Mehfil e Zainab, and a special thanks to Azadbhai Hederaly and Azimbhai Jetha for their support in making this event possible.
