Salamu Alaikum, Peace be upon you.
As the British Muslim community continues to face an all-time high of negative media portrayal, it is vital that we find ways to reduce tensions in all its forms.
Your mosque is thus invited to participate in the second national Visit My Mosque Day, to be held on Sunday 7 February 2016 inshAllah.
Holding a mosque open day is a fantastic way to ease tensions and show that our Muslim communities are open, tolerant and actively contributing to better community cohesion in British society. Last year, participating mosques were able to benefit from significant positive media coverage both locally and nationally alhamdulillah.
So don’t miss out on this opportunity to be part of this national event and contribute to a positive media story about Muslims in Britain! Get your mosque signed up now!
How do I register?
Participating mosques are asked to fill in this online form:
The deadline for mosques to register is Friday 15 January 2016.
As ever, we know that many mosques in the UK already hold open days routinely and these are fantastic initiatives which deserve more publicity. We hope that many mosques will participate in timing their open days with this national effort on Sunday 7 February 2016 for maximum impact inshAllah.
What do I do?
Never organised a mosque open day before? All the information and resources you need on how to organise one is online at www.mcb.org.uk/VisitMyMosque2016
As part of the open day, we ask that mosques:
– Share tea and cakes with visitors, alongside an insight into the day-to-day goings on of busy Muslim centre of worship.
– Volunteers or members of the mosque congregation are there to talk to guests.
– Extend invitation to local inter-faith leaders, to come together in unity and solidarity.
We hope you will be able to facilitate this in your mosque and also encourage other mosques leaders in your area to do so as well.
