On Saturday 27th April, staff from various madaris came together to take part in a two-day residential course in safeguarding.
This was delivered by an external facilitator on day one and CoEJ facilitator Rizwan Rahemtullah on day two. CoEJ SAN Lead Mahmood Hooda was present throughout the weekend and we had a surprise visit from the CoEJ President Dr. Akber Mohamedali. Candidates came to Kents Hill Conference center in Milton Keynes from London, Leicester, Sussex and even one from Sweden!
This valuable course highlighted the main aspects of child abuse and how to spot the signs if it ever were to occur at our madaris or community. we often dismiss the notion of this happening in our communities but unfortunately, the fact remains that it does.
The objective of the course is to train up members of staff and give them the tools to be able to deliver the training in their own Madrasah.
The overriding message was that every adult is responsible for any child they encounter, being mindful of their well-being.
