In collaboration with the Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign, we’ve been endeavoring to capture a global understanding of who is giving blood in the name of Imam Hussain (as) from around the globe. Many great organisations around the world put together blood donation sessions held in memory of Imam Hussain (as) around Muharram/Safar time every year. However, a lot of this work goes unnoticed and especially in today’s social media driven world, it is important that this work is identified, recognised and celebrated for what it achieves. We have a great opportunity to showcase the amazing work that goes into saving lives in the name of Imam Hussain (as) whilst spreading his noble message and upholding the religion of Islam in a positive light.
The #HussainSavesLives campaign was designed to unite all blood donation drives that happen in the name of Imam Hussain (as) on social media under one hashtag. We have been driving this work on the ground in Europe and with great time and dedication, five blood donation sessions have taken place so far. The areas include Leeds, Leicester, Tooting, Edgware and the Islamic Centre of England Maida Vale. Volunteers from the Imam Hussain Blood Donation Campaign have ensured that these sessions have gone smoothly and that contributions from volunteers in local CoEJ jamaats drive and build on the amazing work they are doing. We’ve had a total of almost 250 donations, potentially saving about 750 lives in 5 cities for 1 purpose. Take a look at some of the pictures below and you can see more updates on our Facebook and Twitter pages.
