Camp CoEJ Diaries Boys -Day 9

Camper Diary- Jupiter
Waking up for Fajr, which was a major obstacle, has now been conquered. We’ve realised the importance of developing other people to do better. The bonding with campers, mentors, CST and Camp heads has been phenomenal. Learning through play and drama has been exhilarating but the most important thing is that we have all excelled in improving our Quran.
Today’s activities were sky line and zip line. These activities were incredibly enjoyable. It was also a good experience for people who are scared of hanging on something. It was an amazing activity and we’ve witnessed some people who have overcome their fears. We all felt happy for the people who overcame their fears.
In the first half of our football match, we weren’t passing or communicating with our team. We lost our captain and then our next captain got injured. At half time we discussed team tactics and arranged positions. This meant that in the second half we were much more co-ordinated and scored three goals. Through playing this match, our team became closer and we decided not to shout at each other again.During planet time we walked into a room full of cards labelled with a huge variety of emotions. During planet time we walked into a room full of cards labelled with a huge variety of emotions. We all had to choose an emotion that represented how we felt. We all explained the emotion and why we felt it. From this session we learnt how to deal with and handle negative emotions. This will help us to improve the way we treat ourselves and others.
In today’s lessons we planned for the camper vs mentor debate. The campers are arguing that Camp CoEJ is not a waste of time and the mentors are arguing that the camp is a waste of time. We mentioned the skills/values we learnt in Camp CoEJ and how it has benefited us spiritually, emotionally and physically. We also talked about how we have met new people and created new bonds. Today’s lesson was absolutely outstanding. For our final lesson, we learnt how to embrace and enhance creativity with Maria Aunty. We wore masks showing a single emotion and we had to become the character. After ten minutes everybody was in hysterics. The point of the activity was to show how and why creativity is valued in the workplace and how we can unlock our own creativity. I have learnt many tips on how to be creative and think that the lesson will be very beneficial.
