Course Details

The value of graphical communication in the modern world cannot be underestimated; with different forms of media available to exploit. The commonality of these media lies in the design process – from print to the internet, most if not all design is done on a computer. Knowledge of industrial standard software like Adobe Creative Suit will enable a designer to produce professional looking publications. These can be used in courseworks, professional reports, publicity posters, cards, booklets and internet web-pages. This course will provide 8 people the foundation in Computer Graphics Design, and also free software with which to practice on.

The Design course will run over 5 weekends to provide in depth training in all areas of Adobe CS2. The first three weekends will focus on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Each weekend will follow the following structure:

Saturday: 9am-4pm Professional training in given area

Sunday 10am – 4pm Supervised practice with the tool to compete a given project

By the end of the course, participants should be familiar with all aspects of computer graphics design and be able to take their skills further should they so wish. This course will be aimed not at current professional designers, but at those with limited or no experience of the Adobe Suite. Some design experience will help frame the learning, and computer literacy is expected. With a small group, flexibility and individuality needs will be catered for. The course is a complete package and participants are expected to attend all sessions.
