Youth Desk Team Meeting - 4 November 2006 - Report |

On Saturday 4 November 2006 the newly formed youth desk, under the chairmanship of Sadiq Datoo, held its first team meeting. Open to any CoEJ Youth volunteers both past and present, the meeting aimed to begin the process of forming the objectives of the Youth Desk. The meeting benifited from the presence of the previous two chairs of the former YND: sister Fatima Dossa and brother MohamedHusein Nasser, as well as a good cross-section of youth volunteers from as far apart as Birmingham and Wessex. The Youth Desk has an objective to meet all youth representatives from member Jamaats, and this meeting of former and future volunteers was the first step in this consultation process. The outcome of all these discussions will Inshallah shape the future of the Youth Desk for the next few years. Secretary General Murtaza Bharwani had the following to say, "I am pleased that the new Youth Desk has embarked on such a wide consultation process and I wish them all the best in their venture. It is only through communicating best practices, sharing problems and working together towards solutions that we can move forward as a community." The meeting produced considerable output which is currenly being collated and will form part of the Youth Desks report.
