The activities of Open Discussions started off in March 2005 as a project initiated and set up by a group of young, enthusiastic and committed Muslims. Initially given the name Abrar Discussions, the venture set-off to give a platform for individuals to discuss various issues concerning Muslims both locally and globally. These discussions strive to fill in gaps that Mosques and Islamic centers have left open - mainly discussion, dialogue and discourse on a social, political and religious level. Moreover, Open Discussions was designed to bring individuals from various backgrounds regardless of colour, religion or gender together to talk about the rising challenges facing the Muslim community.
Since their launch, the discussions have paved way for dynamic exchange and flow of ideas and experiences between scholars, academics, thinkers, researchers, journalists, analysts and students alike. We have recently launched our new webpage, which is found as www.open-discussions.com , where you will find details of our past and coming programmes and soon, we hope, downloadable versions of our proceedings.
Our next meeting is scheduled to take place at 6:00 pm on Monday 22th January, at our usual location of Abrar House, 45 Crawford Place, London, W1H 4LP (off Edgware Road). Attendance is FREE however you must confirm your attendance by contacting us on any of the following:
