Behlool Society Youth Awarded by FMO |
|
On Sunday the 20th of January 2008 the youth heads of The Behlool Society Leicester, Mohammed Karmali Rajani and Fateema Suleiman were invited to attend the Federation of Muslim Organisations (FMO) regional youth awards. These awards were launched to acknowledge the achievements of young people from Leicestershire and encourage others to follow their examples.
The ceremony was held in the presence of over 800 people including youths from all over the Muslim community in Leicester, the Mayor of Leicester, and the executives of BBC, Islam Channel and Muslim Council of Britain. The event was an excellent opportunity for the youth heads to meet some renowned people and discuss with them the projects which are being carried out in the community.
The Behlool Society youth heads were nominated by another active youth in Peterborough who recognised the society’s hard work. The Behlool Society were shortlisted for the community volunteer’s category and then came runners up and were presented with an award. Behlool Society has established itself as a strong youth group which has over the years proved its credentials to the Muslim Ummah. We are fortunate indeed to have this for our community. We congratulate its leaders past and present to have achieved recognition in the FMO Youth awards. Haider Bhogadia (President MKSIA Leicester) |
