Abbasi Youth Committee - Imam Sadiq Course report E-mail
With the grace of Allah, the planning of the Imam Sadiq course has come to fruition with approximately 14 people attending the first two courses of Stage 1, namely; Spoken Arabic and Fiqh. There has been a lot of interest shown in various subjects and as time progresses these courses will commence.

The course has been organised to provide 10 hours study for each subject over 2 stages. This will ensure that a basic understanding of the core Shia Islamic beliefs are understood. The sessions are run by an experienced alim with course notes handed out and sessions run by way of lecture and seminar. Stage 1 is expected to finish by the summer holidays with, stage 2 scheduled to start after Ramadhan. For those that complete the course this year they will have gained approximately 60 hours of high quality learning from the cream of Birmingham’s Ullema.

The course consists of the following subjects:
•    Fiqh – Religious demonstrative laws (history, daily laws for living in the west)
•    Kalaam - Theology (fundamental Islamic belief, divine attributes)
•    Seerah - History (Prophet & Imams - Practical examples for daily life)
•    Irfan - Spirituality (humility of the traveler in servitude)
•    Tafsir - Quran commentary (several small chapters)

•    Shaykh Arif Abdulhussein (Irfan)
•    Syed Aliraza Naqvi (Arabic / Fiqh)
•    Syed Mohamed Naqvi (Tafseer)
•    Shaykh Miza
•    Shaykh Mubashir
•    Syed Fatemi

The course is taught in the Syeda Zainab building and is open to all. The course is expected to increase the knowledge base of those attending and was initiated upon the requests of the youth for more programmes in English. The Abbasi Youth Committee felt that it was an ideal proposal to utilise the available facilities and the learned ulama of the Birmingham community.
