 Shan-e-Abbas Hassam Shan-E-Abbas was born in 1985, in Birmingham, UK. He is the first of two sons to Sadik and Shamim Hassam.
Shan-E-Abbas studied at Hallfields School for his primary education, at Solihull School for his secondary education and then at King Edward’s School for his A-Levels. He gained straight As in Chemistry, Economics, History, Geography and General Studies. He has recently graduated from King’s College, London, where he studied Law, and has completed his Legal Practice Course. He is currently working with a corporate law firm in London.
His community service began in Birmingham, first as a volunteer and then as Madressa teacher in Islamic History. He went on to become the Secretary of the Birmingham Youth Committee. Shan-E-Abbas continues to serve the local community and is currently a member of the Buildings Committee of Birmingham Jamaat. He was involved in the World Federation ZCSS Higher Education Sustainability Project. He has served as the Secretary of the Youth Network Desk and played an integral role in the Iraq Relief, Pakistan Earthquake Appeal and also the annual Ramadhan Relief campaigns. He was recently been appointed as an Assistant Secretary General of the World Federaration. He has been involved with the Sweden camp over a number of years: he was a mentor in 2004, manager for the new A-Level group in 2005 and as Administrative Assistant in 2006 and 2007. His extra-curricular activities include debating, as well as involvement in political issues. In debating, he won the Birmingham University Schools debating competition and at university he won the University of London inter-collegiate debating competition. He has also gave a speech as a representative at a UN gathering in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. He enjoys playing football, golf, squash and cricket. |
