Profile - Fazleabbas Taslim Kanji E-mail
Fazleabbas Kanji was born in 1984 in London, UK. His parents Taslim and Hasina, both originally from Moshi, Tanzania, have become well-established members of Hujjat Jamaat in Stanmore since they moved to the UK in 1974 and 1982 respectively. Fazleabbas has also been blessed with a younger sister and younger brother.

After completing primary education at a local school in Harrow, Fazleabbas moved to Haberdashers' Aske's School where he achieved excellent grades in all ten subjects at GCSE and had the honour of taking the role of Chairman in the Islamic Society. At the same school, he obtained top grade passes in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and German at A-level as well as a Gold Crest Award from the national Engineering Education Scheme in the UK. He has now graduated from Imperial College London after having completed a master’s degree in  information Systems Engineering.

With regards to his role in the community, alhamdulillah he has had many opportunities to serve his Jamaat, both at a communal and individual level.  He is the head of the Tareekh department at the Shia Ithna-Asheri Madressa in London and has just completed his term serving as the Chairman of the English Listening Centre, arranging majalis programmes at Hujjat Stanmore Jamaat. He is also a lecturer for the younger members of the community and has written articles for the various Islamic magazines that are distributed around the UK.

He has participated as a mentor for the CoEJ Sweden Camps in 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005, and now returns primarily in the role of a teacher.

Being quite an active youth, he takes much interest in sports and reading. He has won the CoEJ doubles badminton tournaments for three years consecutively but is also a keen squash player and swimmer. He is keen on exploring his computing skills and has taken on the task of learning Farsi to expand on his linguistic abilities.
