Ali was born in Chichester, UK. His parents Murtaza and Marziyah are both originally from Dar-es-Salaam, and the family have settled in Hemel Hempstead since 1986. Ali is from a family of two, with an older sister. He is insha'allah getting married this summer.
His primary and secondary schooling was in Hemel Hempstead, taking his GCSEs at John F. Kennedy School, and obtained top grades in the ten GCSEs that he took. He went on to study A-Levels at Watford Grammar School for Boys, and achieved straight As in Economics, Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry. In June 2006, he graduated from Cambridge University with a Masters in Engineering (MEng) and now works for a scientific software consultancy in Stevenage.
Ali has been involved in the community from an early age. He has chaired programmes at Stanmore and has worked on a variety of CoEJ and WF projects. He is involved in the planning and implementation of the CoEJ educational revision courses and has presented the CoEJ UCAS seminars 2002-2005. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the CoEJ Youth Desk after serving three years on the CoEJ Education Committee Core Team. He also volunteers for The World Federation and was part of the Conference Management Team at the 2006 conference in Dubai.
He attended the Sweden Summer Camps in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 in a variety of roles from Mentor to Administrator, and this year, he the UK Liaison.
In his spare time, Ali plays a variety of sports, and over many years has participated at the CoEJ annual sports festival, representing Stanmore in Badminton. He likes to read, explore the boundaries of technological innovation and spend time with friends. |
