Campers find themselves, at the Camp, exposed to a variety of different forms of transport, emphasis being on safely using public transport.
It all starts with the coach ride, in the morning from Hujjat Stanmore to Heathrow airport. In the past different airports have been used and this will be the first year we fly from Heathrow and the first time British Airways is used. The plane ride maybe the first for many but the enthusiasm of being in such a large group with new friends forming eases some of the campers nerves. During the camp the campers experience different modes of Swedish transportation. You have the give it to the Swedes - the coaches used are a touch of luxury and when going to Stockholm the public transportation used, tube and public bus, is dare we say much more pleasant than any London tube ride can offer! With all these luxuries the campers are not however stopped from using the most natural mode of transportation, their legs. A good twenty minute walk takes us in groups to the bus stop. It is a pleasure to listen to the sounds of laughter and hubbab of conversation of friends excited about what they may encounter in the day. |
