All campers are assessed in their Qur’an recitation and depending on ability and their fluency split into three groups. The assessors note their makahrij, and tajweed in order to inform the mentors, who can help minimise if not eradicate these mistakes.
At the camp, Qur'an recitation darsa classes are conducted daily for an hour after Salaa and lunch. The reasoning behind why the campers are segregated according to fluency is because it aids in the discipline and effectiveness of the darsa. The fluent ones are also given makharij and tajweed tips and rules by the selected Mentors Four of the most proficient campers from the top set are hand picked and given tips in public recitation of Qur'an and Duas by the Mentors. The less proficient campers are divided into even smaller groups so that they can be given greater personal coaching. They are also given the practice of reciting Duas, after some supportive coaching by the resident Mukhi.
In fact, the improvement in the quality of recitation is apparent to teachers and campers within three days. We strongly recommend that every one recites at least five Ayas of the Qur'an loudly, clearly every day throughout their lives. |
