Profile - Shan-E-Abbas Hassam E-mail

Shan-E-Abbas was born in 1985, in Birmingham, UK. He is the first of two sons to Sadik and Shamim Hassam.

Shan-E -Abbas studied at Hallfield School for his primary education, at Solihull for his secondary education and then at King Edward’s for his A-Levels. He gained 4 A’s and has recently graduated with a first from King’s College, London where he studied Law.

His community service began in Birmingham, first as a volunteer and then as Madressa teacher in Islamic History. He went on to become the Secretary of the Birmingham Youth Committee. He was involved in the World Federation ZCSS Higher Education Sustainability Project. He is currently serving as the Secretary of the Youth Network Desk of the World Federation, having played an integral role in current Iraq Relief Project: both as the London Co-ordinator for the Orphan Fund and secondly as the Lead Co-ordinator on the Sadr City Aeinullah Eye Clinic Project and Ramadhan Relief Appeals. He has also led various disaster appeals on behalf of the World Federation including the Tsunami Relief Appeal in 2005 and the Pakistan Earthquake Relief in 2006.

He was a mentor at the Sweden Camp 2004, Manager for the new A-Level group for Sweden Camp 2005 and returning in 2006 as Administrative Assistant.

His extra-curricular activities include debating, as well as involvement in political issues. In debating, he won the Birmingham University Schools debating competition and at university he won the University of London inter-collegiate debating competition. He also gave a speech as a representative at a UN gathering in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. He enjoys playing football, golf, squash and cricket.
