Profile - Shabbar Dhalla E-mail
Shabbar was born in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, in 1977 and comes from a family of three with two elder sisters. His father Marhum Yusuf and his mother, Masuma were both born in Zanzibar, Tanzania. Shabbar emigrated to the U.K. in the late 1990’s to pursue his university education and since then has settled in London permanently. He has been married for the last four years, and his wife Tahera is a qualified optometrist.

Shabbar completed his GCSE’s and A’levels in Dar Es Salaam before reading law at the University of Reading in Berkshire.  Having completed his degree in Law, he went to study the Postgraduate diploma in Legal Practice (LPC), to enable him to train as a solicitor. Whilst at University and at the Postgraduate level, Shabbar was active within the department and was Master of Moots in his final year, representing his university at national competitions in Mooting. Shabbar currently works for a firm of Licensed Insolvency Practitioners having completed a bout at the Department of Trade and Industries, The Insolvency Service (DTI -IS). Whilst at the DTI-IS, shabbar completed a course in Personal Insolvency Practice, which is jointly run by the DTI and Nottingham Trent University. He has just finished his recent exams in Certificate of Proficiency in Insolvency.    

Shabbar has been an active community worker since his teenage years in Dar Es Salaam, volunteering at the Madressa and as Editor of the ‘Knowledge’ magazine. More recently, he has been the Vice Chairman of the Education Committee of the Council of European Jamaats for the past 3 years and continues in this capacity till today. He is also involved with the World Federation and assists them in various projects; his recently completed project is the Volunteer’s Handbook. He is now working on compliance issues for the World Federation and The Council of European Jamaats in relation to its legal requirements from the Charities Commission.  

Shabbar attended the 2004 Sweden Camp as one of the Administrators and Inshallah this year will be administering the camp from the U.K.
