Hassanain was born in Trollhättan Sweden 1982 as the first of two sons to Salim and Nishila Govani. His father is from Uganda and his mother is from Tanzania. He completed his equivalent of the Swedish A-levels in 2001, majoring in Business Economics and Accounting, in addition to achieving an international Young Enterprise Diploma. He then joined his family who had moved to Stockholm. He perused Oriental Studies at Uppsala University and also spent a few months at Damascus University learning Arabic. In 2004, he joined the first CoEJ Madinatul Ilm Course in Qum. He got married June 2005 and has since also been employed at a telecom company, where he works as a Business Loyalty & Sales Agent.
Hassanain started his community involvement as a volunteer, inheriting a deep sense of conscientiousness for community affairs from his family, receiving inspiration from their work.
He was the Jamaat Mukhi in Trollhättan at the age of 18, and has since served as Treasurer, Secretary and Mukhi in Märsta Stockholm Jamaat. In addition to serving in the Madressah and other youth related functions, he gives lectures and recites Majalis in Swedish, English and Gujarati. God willingly, he will be commencing studies at the ICAS/Hawza Ilmiyyah in London, UK, this year. In 2001 he was the very first, and continues to be, the Sweden Connection for the Sweden camp, and has, with the dedicated selfless assistance form his brother Sibtain (a former Sweden camper) and his parents – all continue to give a sterling service to the camp, in the preparation, pre-arrival, on-arrival and on-site.
