Aqil was born in Milton Keynes, UK, in 1988, being the eldest of two brothers His parents, Razia and Mahmood Datoo are from Uganda and Zanzibar respectfully. He had his secondary schooling at Haydon School where he completed his GCSEs and has recently finished his A2 examinations at the same school in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Economics and Chemistry. Aqil is hoping to study Mathematics at Oxford University this autumn.
In 2004, Aqil has been a student mentor for the CoEJ GCSE revision course and played an administrative role in the AS revision course held in 2006, and has helped in the UCAS seminar. He has been to the Sweden Camp twice before as a junior and a 16+ camper, and this year he is coming for the first time as a mentor.
In his spare time, Aqil plays a variety of sports and has represented his school in various basketball, badminton and table tennis tournaments.
