Sweden 2006

The Camp this year will run for 23rd July to 3rd August 2006. This year we have 7 members of the Administration team, five of whom are travelling to the Camp, whilst two will remain in the UK to form the contact points. The Camp is also blessed with the presence of 9 mentors, all of whom have been specifically handpicked. We also have two cooks, who are integral to the Camp, and without whom the Camp would be impossible to run.

The Camp is created with the assistance of our counterparts in Kärsögården, and we would like to thank them for their full co-operation. The Camp is the culmination of twelve months of consistent effort my a number of individuals, and we would like to thank them all for their genuine hard work and dedication.

InshAllah this Camp will be successful, and we wish all the Campers, Mentors and Admin staff the very best!

Mentors are in charge of different sports, choosing the ones they excel in. The Mentors then organise friendly games as well as tournaments in order to create an aura of competition to bring the best out of all the campers.

Qur'an E-mail

The camp begins at Stanmore, and as soon as the campers gather the first task is to assess the Qur’an recitation of each camper. They are assessed by four Qur’an teachers from Stanmore, and depending on ability and their fluency split into three groups. The teachers note their makahrij, and tajweed in order to inform the mentors, who can help minimise if not eradicate these mistakes.

Public Speaking E-mail

Whilst most people are able, even proficient at holding one-to-one conversations, often they fear speaking in public to large groups. Public speaking is therefore an art that requires practice and nurturing from an early age. In order to encourage the campers to speak in public, in front of their peers a relaxed environment is crucial. All the mentors and lecturers play an important role in encouraging, cultivating the campers’ potential.

Planets E-mail

The camp is organised as an analogy to the solar system. The Administration form the Sun, around whom the camp revolves. The Sun is responsible for the well-being of all participants, from the cooks to the campers. As one camper famously described them: ‘the Sun shines on us all.’
