The Camp this year will run for 23rd July to 3rd August 2006. This year we have 7 members of the Administration team, five of whom are travelling to the Camp, whilst two will remain in the UK to form the contact points. The Camp is also blessed with the presence of 9 mentors, all of whom have been specifically handpicked. We also have two cooks, who are integral to the Camp, and without whom the Camp would be impossible to run. The Camp is created with the assistance of our counterparts in Kärsögården, and we would like to thank them for their full co-operation. The Camp is the culmination of twelve months of consistent effort my a number of individuals, and we would like to thank them all for their genuine hard work and dedication. InshAllah this Camp will be successful, and we wish all the Campers, Mentors and Admin staff the very best!

The day started in the early hours where mentors were just chilling, talking and getting to know one another. It was a sort of bonding time in which allowed the atmosphere to calm as well as the nerves of the mentors. An 8am wake up call with Ali standing over me was not what I wanted but It was what I got. The solution was to roll over and lie in for another hour. |

Yesterday marked the end of the first day of the 2006 mentor training weekend. As Shane-E-Abbas explained the weekend is being based around a day in the camp. Therefore when the mentors arrived at IEB they were very warmly greeted by their “weekend mentors” and given their very own Sweden 2006 goody bag just as they would be doing to the campers soon on the first day of the camp in Sweden!

Not long now to the Camp – only 18 days left! This weekend, we will all be attending the Mentor Training Weekend held at the IEB Offices in North London . The objective of the weekend is simple: mentor training . It may sound easy, but so much will be packed into the weekend, it promises to be as exciting yet as tiring at the Camp itself. |

You will be pleased to know that yesterday, the admin team met to organise the Mentor’s Training Weekend , a session that has been specifically designed for the camp so that the mentors are geared to give you the most out of themselves.

I’ve got some pretty bad news for this blog entry: the 16+ section of the Camp is not going to go ahead after all. The principal reason behind this is because the Admin only received a handful of applicants, and so it was not practicable to have the 16+ Camp to go ahead. The decision was not actually based on financial feasibility but upon the fact that with such few campers in the 16+ section, the quality, enjoyment and progression of each 16+ camper would be unduly compromised. The rest of the Camp will continue in earnest and will not be affected in anyway by this cancellation. |
