There is no doubt, that in the modern era time is a underrated, expensive and highly sought after resource. Therefore, the concept of ‘time management’ is key.
The young Campers are in the same boat - finding and making time - in a busy schedule of a school weekday and family / Mardressa / sports weekend. The Camp is structured round teaching the Campers to utilise the time allocated to them most effectively. The daily activities chart is so well structured that the Campers just have to be aware of time and learn to be at the right place at the right time or they stand to miss dinner, canoeing or a lesson.
The camp structure affords many scenarios where the concept of time and its management is of paramount importance for a smooth running and an enjoyable camp. From early Fajr prayers to lights out at night, the Campers have to be disciplined in their time management. For many, invariably, the lights out is always expected to be extended for socialising and bonding with other roommates. This happens despite gentle persuasion by the Mentors. Those who do squander time, deprive themselves of valuable much needed sleep. The Campers are able to adapt and catch up with their sleep, they would be seen cat-napping in the most unusual of places and yawning virtualy whole day. Being young and resilient however, they appear to adapt and fully enjoy the facilities and programmes of the Camp. The Campers seem to be able to make up for "lost" time and often go on to eventually become efficient Time-Managers! |
