Sweden 2006 - Concepts

Outings form an integral and significant part of the camp. The locations are carefully chosen to broaden the campers’ experiences. The outings are meticulously planned, booked well in advance of the camp through the ‘Swedish Connection.’

This year there will be two main outings: the trip to Stockholm City Centre, and the trip to the theme park. Campers gain the opportunity to buy souvenirs and to use different forms of transport from boat, to bus, to underground trains.

The trip to the theme park allows the campers to experience a day out, with their friends, enjoying the rides its offers. The campers will pray Zohr and Asr namaz in public, complete with Adh’aan and Ta’keebat. The impact of this experience of praying in a public vicinity, in a Western surrounding, is that the campers lose all inhibitions to pray in public areas. Annually, this can be observed as campers readily wish to pray in airport lounges, without any fear.

The trip to crazy golf is often highly enjoyable. The campers are free the ‘whack’ ‘smack’ and ‘slam’ golf balls into deceptively difficult holes, in courses of all shapes and sizes. Often the campers aim to challenge their mentors, and mentors challenge admin alike. The administration book the entire site, allowing the campers to take over the site, demolishing anything in their wake.

Finally, a trip to the shopping mall has also been arranged this year, this occurs en route to the airport. This is the last chance for all the campers to spend their Kroners, and to purchase gifts for their family.
