We were woken up today by our mentors at 8.30am this morning and we went for our showers. We then headed towards the breakfast room, on time as usual, and we found the same breakfast as we had on the other days. There was the usual cereal, toast, bread, Swedish cheese and jam; however there was also a new item on our breakfast menu, omelette: most people had omelette.
The lessons started at 9.00am with our first lesson by our newest teacher, Arif uncle. His lesson was a PowerPoint presentation on an introduction on himself followed by a lesson about how to react in the right way when faced with certain difficult situations. The second lesson was by the Sheikh and was about the saying ‘time is money’ and how this relates to our lives. He also talked about the different stages of getting to heaven and how we could improve ourselves to get to a higher stage of heaven. The third lesson was given by the Dr. Mahmood and he taught us a lesson on attitude and gave us a questionnaire which told us if we had a good or bad attitude. The final lesson was given by Murtaza bha who taught us about teamwork and we had an activity that helped us build our teamwork skills. After lessons we prayed Zohrain namaz behind the Sheikh and he gave his regular talk between namaaz and today he talked about the groups of people Allah loves. Having cleaned ourselves ready for the group photograph, hunger struck and we decided to have our delicious lunch of meat curry, which was so nice that even the mentors even went back for seconds. After lunch we went for our Quran khani lesson where, depending on our class, we were taught various things from the Arabic alphabet and pronunciation to tafseer and recitation of Suratul Ankaboot. In sports we had our cricket tournament match against Mars, which of course we won. This was followed by an exciting session of tube skiing where the only people to fall in to the water were our two mentors, Hasnain bha and Shabir bha. The day ended with planet time where we learnt how to work as a team and help each other out to be a better planet and we wrote this diary that you are reading. We ended the day with a PDT session where we had lateral thinking quizzes, mentor introductions, lesson summaries and news briefs with the usual postbag where some of our planet received some messages from our parents back at home. The session ended with a debate about today’s cricket tournament. We had dessert and then made our ways off to bed and got some well needed sleep after such an exhausting yet exciting day, ready for the next.
