Day 3 - Sweden 2006 E-mail
Tuesday, 25 July 2006
An early start at 8:30 am by the mentors was the beginning of our day. It was followed by a breakfast to waken us up and refresh us. The shower did that as well but that was for those who showered since the beginning of the camp…

Classes were by Ashiq ba, Dr Shahid Merali, Sheikh and Dr. Mahmood Datoo. Today was Dr Shahid’s last day at the camp and he left in style with a mind boggling lesson on abortion. Ashiq ba taught us about tawheed in his lesson on Sura Ikhlaas. Dr Mahmood taught us about our 10 enemies and Sheikh covered 5 laws.

Zoherain prayers followed lessons and Sheikh gave us another insightful afternoon  talk on the importance of Salaah and different steps in Salaah

Lunch followed and again did not disappoint. It is one of the reasons we are not missing home and some of the food is better than our mums’ cooking. We have made sure to show our appreciation by complimenting the chefs.

Quran Khanee followed lunch and depending on our ability we were taught tafseer or read Quran to a teacher.

Sports was a bit of a disappointment for Mars as we lost the football 6 – 0 to Mercury. However our team was playing much better in the second half almost scoring and conceding only once. Our session of table tennis followed which everyone enjoyed thoroughly even for those who had never played before. Then we had the best activity of the camp so far: tube skiing. Nothing beats the wind slapping your face or even the taste of slightly salty water comparing to the absolute amazingness of the tube skiing.

Again more food as dinner was served. Another addition to the variety of food; spaghetti Bolognese mmmm, led to another compliment for the chefs and next PDT.

Here was our moment to shine and collect the points we missed out on in sports. We did not disappoint, excelling in all the quizzes allowing our teamwork to shine through. Our debating skills shone as well as we had a unanimous victory by proposing mobile phones to be permitted in the camp for campers.

We prayed maghribain prayers and then had a majalis due to the 5th imam’s Khushali. Campers recited beautiful Qasidah and ended on a short but sweet speech on the life of the 5th Imam.

On that note we went back to our rooms and collapsed on our pillows ready sleep to take its place.
