At the time of writing, we are 24 hours away from the mentors meeting up for the Sweden Summer camp 2006. They, along with camp manager (Hasnain Panjwani), Mentor Trainer (Fazleabbas Kanji), MBTI instructor (Yasin Rahim), resident Alim (Sheikh Shahnawaz) and our 2 wonderful chefs will fly to Sweden a day early to complete their training, and prepare for our arrival.
This is the final countdown to a project that is 12 months in the making, and 8 years of experience. A lot of people have worked extremely hard, both as part of and external to the "admin team" - Inshallah Allah will reward them amply for their service. Campers are meeting in Stanmore, UK, in 48 hours time; I am sure they are packing, planning, wondering and anticipating the camp. They are probably feeling nervous, maybe a little scared but hopefully tingling with excitement for the experiences that lie ahead. With all the tasks to be done today, this morning brought some sad news: Zakira Khatijabai Mohsin Datoo passed away in Dar-e-Salaam. Her son Dr. Munir Datoo is flying out to be with the family and will not be joining the camp this year. His contribution will be greatly missed. The team would like to pass on our condolences to the family, and request all to join us in prayers for the marhooma. Zakira Khatijabai had many relatives involved in community work, and many connected with the camp; we pray they retain the strength to continue their work and may Allah shower them, and her, with His blessings. But after one setback, we are blessed with some good news: after much nervous waiting our resident Alim Sheikh Shahnawaz received his visa for the UK and so will be flying in tomorrow Inshallah. This has been made possible due to the hard work of many, notably the CoEJ Secretariat
