Mentor Training Weekend - Day 1 |

One could feel the anxiety and apprehension in the room as the participants embarked upon another round of Mentor Training Weekend. With a few Ice breakers and the odd sarcastic remark from Munir Uncle, the nerves were soon settled.
Some new faces and of course the usual suspects introduced themselves to get things kicked off. As one introduction followed another it was soon evident to all that the spirit, experience, energy and knowledge present in that room alone was enough to make this yet another successful Sweden Camp inshallah.
No matter your age, everyone loves to be treated with gifts! So mentors were handed out the exact equipment that the campers will receive on their arrival to the camp. Although no one said so, at that moment, I'm sure as mentors we all felt envious of the campers. It was a timely reminder that this trip, this journey, is actually all about giving, giving and yet more giving!
Further mini-talks followed thanking us for our time and efforts that we will be sacrificing for this Camp. However as the Prophet (SAWW) says; when doing a good deed do not expect a thank you. Therefore the mentors already knew that sacrificing any time or efforts would only be an honour !
As the night continued, as more pictures were shown and as more jokes were cracked it was clear to see that the anxiety that was present earlier had now turned into excitement. And the increase in vocal volume could only mean an increase in bonding between participants. Let's hope the energy levels continue throughout the duration of the camp inshallah!
