To comply with the Protection of Children Act, and the Education Act 2002 in the UK, everyone working with children or vulnerable adults requires vetting by the CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) . Application for the relevant “Disclosure” form is through registered bodies.
This process is required for all mentors in the Sweden Summer camp, as well as administrators and assistants. Every Madressa teacher, youth leader and child supervisor required this “disclosure” form. Alhumdillah, through the hard work of the CoEJ Education team, CoEJ have recently been registered as an umbrella body and is now able to process CRB requests. This process is being trialled at the Sweden camp and, if found to be successful, will be presented to CoEJ as a whole for its members. This is just another example of the Sweden camp forging ahead in developing the community, with its successes feeding back to the Council and its member Jamaats. CoEJ Education will be pleased to be able to reassure parents of campers that its team including mentors will be CRB cleared, and will be complying with UK law at the same time. |
