Day 1 - Mentors Diary - Mars |
|
Entering Stanmore, I was feeling quite nervous about going away to a new place and being responsible for a group of girls who I had never met before. As my campers started arriving
, before I knew it I had shifted roles. I found I was the one who was reassuring them that there was nothing to worry about and that it was going to be a very exciting and memorable experience. The first challenge I encountered as my role of mentor was checking in at Heathrow. My fellow Mars mentor Mehjabeen and I soon found ourselves in charge of nine girls, 9 passports, 9 boarding passes and had to make sure that none of these got lost! The plane journey gave us a chance to meet different campers and catch up on some sleep. Alhamdullillah we arrived safely in Sweden and went to a mosque nearby to pray our namaz. We then travelled another couple of hours to the campsite and on arriving we prayed and ate. We then got a chance to really bond with the girls as we had time to release heaps of energy while playing some games. By the end of the evening, we were all feeling much more like a big group of sisters and very much looking forward to the rest of our trip. by Aliyah Ladak |
