Day 6 - Campers Diary - Mercury |
|
Masuma Fazel: We were woken up by our mentors at the crack of dawn, it was 3:59. With ten of us and 4 bathrooms we surprisingly
made it to Fajr jamaat namaaz in record time…….10 minutes! We prayed and got back into bed to sleep. It was not long before we had to wake up for breakfast. We served breakfast to everyone, but we made it just in the nick of time.
Fatemah Zahra Walji: We chose the cakes that we wanted to decorate and decided what we wanted to cover it with. My group covered our chocolate sponge cake with melted chocolate and put on sugar flowers with silver balls. After decorating it we licked all the excess chocolate off the plate.
Zahra Sultan: later on that day after we prayed namaz we had quran khane in which we had to recite surahs from the quran, after we got changed in to our sports equipment and got ready for our stroll down the lake to go canoeing. The stroll was fun and enjoyable and also exciting.
Zahra Sheikh and Sara govani: Reaching our destination we put our bright orange life jackets on and went for a word hunt in our canoes. Instead of finding letters we found our self stuck in the middle of 50 acres of reeds. We were left there stranded, screaming our lungs out for help… some time later our Swedish canoeing coach came to rescue us. Finally we reached land. We felt tired, achy, wet and really needed the loo… DESPERATELY!
Zahra Damji: Covered in a mucky layer of water and mud, we came home to a frantic scuffle for the showers. It was practically survival of the fittest. Only the fastest got a chance to shower before we had to rush to dinner. On the plus side, we’ve learnt not to hog the shower! Most of us in our pyjamas, we scoffed down our dinner (canoeing can be extremely draining!) of rice and curry (As nice as it is, I really miss your food, mum!) but we had some lovely desert later in the night of our own cakes. Considering most of us didn’t even know the difference between flour and sugar, they tasted great and we were all looking for the biggest pieces!
Mariam Jaffer: Today during PDT the reigning champions of the puzzles and quizzes thrown at us by the mentors and the teachers, became the reigning losers. We listened to our messages left by our parents which brought on tears and laughter and then watched an ‘amusing’ news report from Venus. After namaz we all stumbled back to our cabins in the misty darkness of the night and rushed downstairs filled with just enough energy to last us till eleven thirty where we all are crashing out on our beds one by one.
Saarah Kaba: After PDT we had planet time. Most people were half asleep (tired from the canoeing) so we took it easy; we played a couple of games including charades and the un-tangling game. Then we sat on the comfy sofas and had a hot cup of hot chocolate, whilst working out what we were going to write in our diary and how to write it. |
