Day 1 - Campers Diary - Mars |
|
Stanmore… When we arrived at Stanmore, we were given badges with our names on it, planet (venus, mercury or mars) and class number. Mars is the best! (we’re in it!) Everyone watched carefully as
the needle on the scales drew closer to 15kg. We all hoped we would not be over the limit. They tied pink ribbon on our suitcases and they had the slight appearance of presents. We met lots of new people and we met our planet and our mentors (who are really nice!) We gave sadqa and duas, and then we set off for Heathrow Airport, terminal 5. Take off… As the plane neared the runway, everyone held their breath with anticipation. Would the takeoff be smooth? During takeoff everyone’s faces were glued to the windows watching as England dropped away. We all wanted to watch TV- we could pick any movie to watch- but there were no earphones. Landing… The landing was so swift some people did not even realise we had landed. We were all anxious as we set foot in… SWEDEN The camp… We arrived at the camp at 8 o’clock. Everyone recited salawt as we passed a beautiful lake and entered the camp site. We unloaded our luggage, prayed, and played games in a huge living room which was really fancy. Exhausted, we all retired to our planet’s houses. We all fell asleep…eventually!! By Azra Jessa and Fatima Ali |
