Public Speaking E-mail
Sweden 2007 - Concepts

Whilst most people are able, even proficient at holding one-to-one conversations, often they fear speaking in public to large groups. Public speaking is therefore an art that requires practice and nurturing from an early age. In order to encourage the campers to speak in public, in front of their peers a relaxed environment is crucial. All the mentors and lecturers play an important role in encouraging, cultivating the campers’ potential.

The camp views pubic speaking to include the recitation of Qur’an, Du’as, Ziarat. The campers are given the opportunity to recite, whenever possible and are trained by the Mukhi, whose role is to coach and inspire the campers to broaden their recitation capacity

In order to facilitate the camp’s aim of instilling confidence and greater ability in public speaking, the following are implemented:

All campers are given the chance to argue points in interactive classes.
Recite at least on Adhan, Du’a and Ziarat (trained by Mukhi)
Prepare a talk given as a newscaster (trained by Mentor.)
Participate in debates (trained by Mentor)

By practicing speaking in public with the aid of greater confidence and a relaxed, pleasant environment, the campers will go back to their respective communities confident in the art of public speaking.
