Dear Monimeen, Salaamun Alaikum, On behalf of The Council of European Jamaats I would like to wish all momineen mahe Ramadhan mubarak. This month is a unique opportunity for us provided by our Lord, so that we may become closer to Him. We must make the most of this time and call upon Him to forgive our sins and fulfill our desires.
The Holy month of Ramadhan is a time for us to collectively unite and worship Allah (SWT) both individually and as a community. I would encourage you all to actively take part in the programmes organised by your jamaat and reap the full rewards of this month. Let us also take this opportunity to share the blessings of the holy month of Ramadhan with the wider community. This month can be used to communicate the positive message of Islam, by spreading the spirit of Ramadhan - for example by donating food to the homeless and through community iftaars.
As we sit down to iftar each day, we must take the opportunity to remember those of our brothers and sisters who are less fortunate. Around the world, there are Muslims who struggle daily to provide food for their families.
CoEJ is actively supporting The World Federation Ramadhan Relief Fund. I would like to humbly request all brothers and sisters donate generously to this fund. Please contribute in whatever way you can - whether this is through individual donations or by organising activities in your respective jamaats. Together, we can make sure Muslims around the world do not have to worry about searching for iftar. Finally, to emphasise the importance of this month, I would like to draw your attention to a simple but powerful extract from the Holy Prophet's (pbuh) sermon to welcome the holy month of Ramadhan:
" O People! Indeed during this month the doors of heaven are open, therefore ask Allah not to close them for you; The doors of hell are closed, so ask Allah to keep them closed for you. "
I pray that Allah (SWT) opens the doors of heaven to us all, by accepting our efforts and forgiving our sins in this blessed month.
With Salaams and du'as,
Munawar Rattansey
