CoEJ Gains Regional Federation Membership under The World Federation E-mail

Image
The Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ) is pleased to annouce that we are now a regional federation member at The World Federation of KSIMC as of August 1, 2007.

CoEJ had passed a unanimous resolution to seek WF membership at their annual general meeting this past March and the application was subsequently presented before the WF Executive Council on Sunday, July 1, 2007 in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. Upon approving the application, the Executive Council followed constitutional procedure, which under clause 3.2.1 requires that any application for membership presented to the Executive Council additionally receives a vote via postal ballot from the Executive Councilors.

The votes returned were unanimous in approving CoEJ’s membership application, ushering it in as the new regional federation member for Europe as of August 1, 2007. As a result of CoEJ attaining membership of The World Federation, all member Jamaats in Europe now cease to be direct members of The World Federation and fall under CoEJ.

This occasion is a historical development for The World Federation as it signals the implementation of a resolution passed at the 2003 Triennial Conference in Dubai.

On receiving the news of the ballot results, President of The World Federation, Dr. Ahmed Hassam commented: “We are delighted to welcome The Council of European Jamaats to take its long awaited place at the Executive Council of The World Federation and InshAllah will continue with our close working relationship to meet the needs of our community in Europe and worldwide”.

“The attainment of membership at The World Federation reflects the hard work of the past leadership and of the countless volunteers,” said President of CoEJ Munawer Rattansey. InshAllah we can now speak as one voice on European issues”.

3rd Pre-Marriage Seminar by CoEJ and The World Federation – London, UK E-mail
On June 10, 2007 The Council of European Jamats (CoEJ) in partnership with The World-Federation hosted the third Pre-marriage Seminar whereby eleven couples participated. This one day program was conducted by professionally trained marriage educators.

One of the couples who participated in this seminar said: “I just wanted to send a quick note to say thank you for yesterday. It was an experience I will not forget. I want to thank you all especially for recognizing a need for these seminars and taking your time to educate and train us for the challenges that lie ahead. It was an eye opener in many respects and brought to our attention many areas that we need to focus on. We hope there will be refresher courses in the future where once we are married we can attend and remind ourselves of what is needed for a successful partnership".
