2) Minutes approved: Proposed by Dr Hussein Jiwa   Seconded by Murtazabhai Bharwani.
3) Matters arising from the minutes.

Item 2g) Dr Jiwa to look into the matter of the CoEJ Office in Peterborough. The interim Managing Committee is not in a position to make any decisions.

Budget Reports – items presented subject to WF approval.

4) President’s Report.

Channelling of non-khums huqooq funds through CoEJ.

To date Hyderi is channelling 100% of it’s funds to WF via CoEJ. Birmingham, Leicester and Milton Keynes are all positive about the idea.
Hujjat is not in a position to channel any funds as the resolution passed by the General Body refrains them from doing so.
Further explanation was given to Sweden and Saghirbhai about the background to the resolution and about the ways and kind of funds that can be channelled.

MINAB ( Maulana and Imam National Advisory Body)

Forthcoming 13 May/06 meeting in Manchester, organised by MCB,  to be attended by  Ulemas ( both shias and sunnis) to support  MINAB as an independent body– run and funded by its own funds - CoEJ to attend together with as many Shiah Ulemas and scholars as possible.
Possible attendees from various jamaats were discussed – find a spokesperson and take part in the steering committee.

MAMT 2006

Dr Hussein Jiwa explained about the difficulty with the hosting Jamaat of the ownership of MAMT–Hujjat was explained that MAMT can only be run under CoEJ and all funds collected(subscription, donation and any other funds) to be channelled through CoEJ only .

Any advertising or printing material should have a CoEJ MAMT 2006 logo together with the name of the hosting Jamaat.

Web related information to be controlled only by Barketbhai Walji- MAMT Webmaster.
It was also suggested that a meeting between CoEJ’s and Hujjat’s Sports Committee be held on a monthly basis to keep the structure going.

After the demonstration of the website by Barketbhai it was decided to give CoEJ more prominence with snippets on each sports page and the President’s message to be on the front page. The whole idea being to promote CoEJ to the readers as much as possible.

The issue of inviting non-members to participate in MAMT to be discussed by the General Body before any decision is to be taken.

The decision on the banning of members of Hyderi and Birmingham football team to be brought back to EC if any realistic counter proposal comes back from the teams concerned.

New members

Application to be considered by the General Body – centre to be visited prior to AGM.

Travelling expenses for office bearers

There is no agreed policy.  All travel expenses of the Boards is being paid by CoEJ.  It was agreed that, for the time being, travel expenses for the office bearers to be on an issue per issue basis. Secretariat to prepare a document to review the whole issue. For the upcomingWF conference in Dubai, it was agreed that the expenses of two delegates to be reimbursed by CoEJ.

AOB

1.    Concern was voiced about the annual subscription – by Gulamhusseinbhai and Saghirbhai – the amount being too high and also it creates disparity between jamaats. The whole issue, including voting rights, to be looked into again.
2.    MCB affiliation – all Coej members should send in their names of the delegates for the forthcoming election. If any Jamaat is not affiliated with MCB then maybe CoEJcan pay its annual fee of £50 and collect from the jamaats- in fact if all jamaats do it through CoEJ then it has a bigger say in MCB.
3.    Vision Day for CoEJ – tentatively set for 3rd September 2006. Dr Akber to co-ordinate.
4.    Seniors Network Desk –  not too happy to remove the name Coshisco totally and replace it with SND – it was agreed to meet SND heads and resolve this issue.

Date and venue for the next ec meeting – office bearers to decide.

Meeting ended 2.55 pm.

Secretariat.

Sis Zeenat Rattansey.
