The Leadership Development Programme is a 2 ½ day residential course which introduces and explores themes of leadership, teamwork and co-operative working environments. Led by a Myers-Briggs qualified instructor, the course takes participants on a journey of personal growth, asking them to relate personal experiences to effective team work.
The course challenges pre-conceived notions of good leadership, and using practical examples shows delegates how to respond and interact with others in a way which maximises productivity. It’s a hands on course, so be prepared to get involved!

Although not aimed at community workers specifically, any individuals with involvement in community affairs will find this course invaluable; from madrasah teachers to Board members to volunteers, the skills learnt are equally applicable.

As part of the course participants will be asked to identify their Myers-Briggs Type Personality Indicator, a test that is frequently used by employers. It essentially analyses personality traits and patterns, and explains the best methods of personal development for each individual.

The World Federation and the Council of European Jamaats are committed to this leadership course because we have seen the results in practice; better understanding and appreciation of the personalities that arise in any group, more productive working environments and more openness and co-operation. Because of this, WF & COEJ heavily subsidise this course. The average cost per participant is around £900, but a contribution of only £120 is asked from applicants. We do, however, encourage you to find alternate sponsorship in addition to your contribution – many employers are willing to fund development courses because they too recognise the tremendous advantage of enhancing skills. It doesn’t harm to ask!

There are only 23 places available on this course so early application is advised. Please complete the application form and email it to leadership@world-federation.org and also send a hard copy in the post, with your cheque (minimum £120, made payable to “The World Federation”) to Secretariat, Islamic Centre, Wood Lane, Stanmore, Middlesex, HA7 4LQ no later than 16 December 2005.

I look forward to receiving your application in due course. In the meantime if you have any queries or questions please email leadership@world-federation.org.
