Arifali Hirji was born and raised in Stockholm, Sweden. Has been involved in community work for many years. In Stockholm (Marsta) Jamaat he has served in different capacities including Vice President, Youth Chairman, Webmaster, Madressa Teacher, as well as WF IEB and ZCSS representative. Arifali moved to the UK approximately two years ago. In Stanmore Jamaat, he has alhamdulillah the opportunity to serve as volunteer for the English Listening Centre as well as Stanmore Jafferys, and he is currently a teacher at the Shia Ithna'asheri Madressa. |

Charities are being warned they could lose more than £90m a year when the new lower income tax rate is introduced next month. Gift aid currently allows charities to claim an extra 28p on every pound
The Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) says the fall in the basic rate will reduce the amount of gift aid charities can claim on donations. |

The Council of European Jamaats is pleased to announce the appointment of Sister Fatima Manji as Chairperson of the External Relation and Media Desk. Fatima graduated in 2007 with a degree in Government and History from the London School of Economics. During her time at university she was an active student journalist, serving as a Senior Editor of the LSE Student union newspaper and hosting a political show on the student union radio. She was also actively involved with student politics, serving on various committees including the LSE's Academic Board as a student representative. |

Since the Muballigheen Training Programme first began on Saturday 8th September 2007, the feedback received has been extremely positive. Recently, the Institute of Islamic Postgraduate Studies in Damascus welcomed the visit of the Secretary General of The Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ), Brother Shabbar Dhalla.
