Title_2Essex Madressa in Chelmsford, UK, has successfully completed its 4th year of functioning. At the end of year, Madressa published its 2011 copy of 'Imam Ali Reza Gazette'.

The magazine was unveiled on its annual day on 17th December, where keynote address was delivered by Sister Amina Inloes, Lecturer at Islamic College of Advanced studies and a regular presenter and speaker on Ahulbayt TV.

DSC_0191Muharram – a time for reflection, learning and development – a time that Group Muslim Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Essex raised £1,000 for St Clare Hospice In the month of Muharram (first lunar month of the year), all over the world, Shia Muslims commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS), grandson of Prophet Muhammad (SAWW).

Imam Hussain (AS) was killed ruthlessly with his family and companions and ladies of the household were made captives on the plains of Karbala (in current Iraq) in 680 AD. He stood up against Yazid, the tyrant ruler of the time, for principles of free will, human rights and justice.

farleigh_1On 30th March 2011, Dr Qamar Abbas and Sister Sajeeda Shiraz Panjwani from MSI Jamaat of Essex visited Chelmsford's local Farleigh Hospice.

They were greeted by Hospice Chaplain  Katy Hacker Hughes and Community Fundraising Manager Christine Hogben.

They discussed in detail with them the aspects of functioning of Essex Jamaat and informed them that Essex Jamaat had raised £1,000 on the occasion of Muharram for the hospice.

Essex_Sports_Day_2010_FootballOn Saturday 17th July, the SI Madressa of Essex held its Annual Sports Day at Lawford Mead Primary School. All members of the community were invited to attend and there was a great turnout. Activities commenced at 10.00am. A number of sports and activities were offered, starting with a football match between the boys and their parents. The match was a score draw resulting in a penalty shootout, won by the boys.
