In recent years, the perception and portrayal of Muslims in the media has become an issue of concern and this is a great opportunity for anyone interested in a career in broadcast media.
The Production Trainee Scheme will give 19 people the opportunity to be trained 'on the job' over an 18 month period. The aim is for trainees to become the programme makers and commissioners of the future. The trainee will undertake formal training in the classroom, online learning, work placements and mentoring by a senior manager in the BBC. The emphasis will be very much on storytelling and creative writing as well as on craft and production skills. Much of the training and many of the work placements will be based in different parts of the UK.
