Here are some Frequently Asked Questions

Question 1
You have mentioned that anyone not filling the entry form by 31st July will be penalised. The entry form includes names.
We agreed at the meeting that names can be given by 14th August, please see extract below from the rules and regulations of the tournament sent after the meeting. Please can you confirm this?

Answer 1
You are right, all names should be submitted by 14th August. What we want from you is to fill in the form indicating how many teams you are entering in individual sports. Names can be filled in by 14th August

Question 2
Can an over 35 play in the over 19 category for any of the sports instead of in the 35+ section?

Answer 2
Yes. Any age group can play in 19 & over age group as it’s called as an open age group.

Question 3
Can you please confirm that non khoja shias can participate in the tounrament as long as thay are members of Stanmore

Answer 3
Yes they can participate in the tournament as far as they are the member of your jamaat and the member of your sports club.

Question 4
What are the accommodation arrangements? Are we allowed to stay at Mosque?

Answer 4
Please refer to the minutes of the meeting .

Question 5
I was and still am a member of Essex jamaat, which would be considered a small jamaat and normally when a tournament comes around I have represented Essex/Wessex jamaat without any problem. I have been a member of Stanmore jamaat since childhood and so you could say that I have dual membership of 2 jamaats (Essex and Stanmore).  However, I am not and have never been a member of Stanmore Jafferies, which is the body which runs the sports clubs and MAMT tournament entry for Stanmore Jamaat and have not played in any weekly sports practices organized by them ever. Although I could join Stanmore Jafferies now, it would be too late for me to enter into the tournament to represent Stanmore Jamaat. My question is am I still able to join Wessex Jamaat’s team for entry into the tournament (as I did last year) as I am still a member of Essex Jamaat and have not joined Stanmore Jafferies? Or would I be considered part of Stanmore Jamaat and rule number 20 will be applied to me.

Answer 5
Yes you can join Wessex Jamaat as far as you are a member of Essex Jamaat sports club and not a member of Stanmore Jafferies sports club.

Question 6
How many sports can a person play. For example can a person participate in volleyball, football, badminton and tabletennis?

Answer 6
Player can participate in any two sports provided that they are not played on the same day.  For example football is played on Saturday and volleyball is played on Sunday, then he can enter these two sports.  Whereas tabletennis, volleyball, tennis, and badminton are played on Sunday. Therefore he can't participate in these two sports played on that day. However singles and doubles in tabletennis, badminton, tennis and squash are counted as two events of same sports and they will be allowed to play on the same day. Please note that entry fees for one sport or event is £10 except for adult volleyball which is £15.

Question 7
Is volleyball played with two or three touches.

Answer 7
Vollyball has always been played 3 touches and its the same this year.

Question 8
FOOTBALL - Is overhead and roll on substitution allowed.

Answer 8
No, except for 12 years and under see Football Rules and Regulations .

Question 9
Is it 5 a side or 7 a side football for MAMT 2007, how many players on pitch and how many maximum subs allowed?

Answer9
12 and under = 7 a side side (to be played on Monday at Bushfield Sports Centre). A squad of 10 is allowed. Rolling substitutes allowed.  All other other age groups = 5 a side (to be played on Saturday at Powerleague). A squad of 8 is allowed. Rolling substitutes allowed.

Question 10
I'm from Paris and I am the capitain of  the french football team. I want to know if the pitches will be same as last year? And if they are same are there any modifications in the rules?

Answer 10
12 and under = 7 a side.  Same rules as last year.  Astro turf pitches (same as the first and end pitches at Brunel University last year).  All other age groups = 5 a side.  Same rules as last year except that there is head height rule (ball cannot go over head height otherwise it is a free kick.)  Artificial grass pitches (same as middle pitches at Brunel University last year).

Quesiton 11
Please could you tell me what the weight of the volleyball will be?

Answer 11
It will be about 12-13 pounds.

Question 12
