BADMINTON RULES & REGULATIONS
1. Each Jammat may nominate XX (XX = number to be confirmed by the European Sports Jammat) for each of the following age categories:-
15 & U 19 & U 19 + 35+
Players should be under the age of each of the categories.
Senior players will not be playing in their own age groups as it has not proved to be viable for players who have travelled distances to only have one or two games during the day. To
2. ALL players are noted that this WILL count towards the number of sports that each competitor is allowed to play. Any player who has gone against this rule will be WITHDRAWN from the Badminton Tournament no matter at what stage the player has reached.
3. Depending on the number of entries all players will be placed in groups of four, in their relevant age group, where winners and runners up going through to knockout stages.
4. Group games will be one game to 15, old style scoring, with no setting. In the knockout stages and in the semi-finals, setting will be allowed, finals will be best of 3 games with setting on the LAST game only. This all depends on timing, should it be that the games need to be revised; tournament organisers and the sports committee will use their discretion.
5. The overall positions in the group will be determined as follows:-
a) The player winning most games will be placed highest b) The event of a tie, tied players will be placed in descending order according to number of games won c) It two players are still tied the player winning the tie between the two players will be placed highest d) If more than two players are tied at stage c) above players will be placed in order according to point’s difference, highest first. Point’s difference is the difference between the total points scored by a player and the points conceded. e) If after a) – d) above there is a two way tie then the player winning the tie between the two players will be placed highest f) If after a) – e) above more than two players are tied process a) – e) will be followed using the results of the tied players only g) In the unlikely event that a) – f) fails to resolve the tied situation the tied players will play one game to 15 no setting to see who will go through to the next round.
6. The Referee will be appointed by the Sports Committee and their decision in all matters shall be final.
