Please see below for important changes to football which all Jamaats should be made aware of.
Powerleague - We have been advised by Powerleague that they will have resurfaced the 5-a-side pitches before the tournament dates. The pitches will no longer be astro-turf pitches. Instead they will be artificial grass pitches.
12 and under football tournament - The 12 and under football tournament will now be held inshallah on Monday 27th August at Bushfield. It will not be held at Powerleague on Saturday 25th August as originally discussed in the COEJ sports meeting.
This is due to two main reasons:-
1) We have taken note of comments by Stanmore and Hyderi Jamaats regarding their concerns of looking after children on the same day as the adult football tournament.
2) Our allocation of football pitches at Powerleague may be reduced from 10 pitches to 8 pitches due to construction that has been planned by Poweleague. We are still waiting further details regarding this but this should not cause us a problem insha'allah.
As the 12 and under football tournament is now going to be held at Bushfield Sports Centre, this is now going to be a 7-a-side football tournament for 12 and under.
All the rules will be equivalent to the 5-a-side tournament rules except for the following:-
a) Each team can have a squad of up to a maximum number of 10 players.
b) There will be no "head height" rule i.e. the ball can be kicked over head height.
c) There will be no restriction for the goalkeeper to throw the ball under-arm. He is now allowed to throw the ball out over-arm, should he wish to do so. However he must not kick the ball to start play.
Number of entries - As discussed in the CoEJ Sports meeting, the number of football team entries allowed are as follows:-
19+ = big jamaats (Stanmore, Hyderi, Birmingham and Peterborough) will be allowed 4 teams each and small jamaats 2 teams each. In addition an entry quota system exists as agreed in the CoEJ Sports Tournament meeting.
18 and under = each jamaat is allowed 2 teams each.
15 and under = each jamaat is allowed 2 teams each.
12 and under = as the venue has now been changed to Bushfield Sports Centre, there is less time restriction. Therefore we are proposing to increase the number of entries allowed. Currently each jamaat is allowed 2 team entries. We propose that the big jamaats (Stanmore, Hyderi, Birmingham and Peterborough). should be allowed 3 football team entries with other jamaats still having 2 entries each.
