Day 4 - Thursday 26 July 2007 Girls' report: Thursday morning began surprisingly early as the Jamiah had arranged for us to go to the Haram of Bibi Ma'suma al Qum to pray Namaaze Shab and Fajr prayers. This was one of the most uplifting moments of the trip so far because the peacefulness that extended through the atmosphere due to the stillness of the night and lack of people allowed us to feel a greater proximity to this great lady. The opportunity to pray Fajr Namaaz in Jamaat is one that does not present itself regularly back home therefore to do this in such and inspiring and blessed environment helped us to appreciate the experience even more so. "The unity that was felt during jamaat namaaz increased our love and respect for our fellow Muslim brothers and sisters as we are all brought together in the worship of Allah (SWT)," - one of the students commented after Namaaz. Day 3 - Wednesday 25th July 2007
Girls' diary: Qum: the city of knowledge. It is our third day here, and we already have had a great experience. After visiting Jamkaran yesterday, the bond of love that has developed for the 12th Imam is becoming even stronger day by day. The emotions that have filled our hearts are indescribable. After going to mosque for many years and listening to many great recitors, us girls felt that it would be a great honour to learn to recite the Quran in a beautiful way - the way in which it deserves to be recited. We were honoured with the presence of an inspirational recitor who taught us to recite the Qur'an with our hearts. She taught us the different emotional tunes that are used while reciting the Qur'an which effect the audience deeply. Listening to her voice when she recited a happy or peaceful ayat made us feel calm and peaceful inside.

Day 2 - Tuesday 25th July 2007
Girls' diary: This was the second day in Qum and we already feel at home. Our first class was Akhlaq, where we were given an introduction to the subject of Ethics in Islam. We then had a class on Ahkham (rules of the Shariah) for women.
For the Madinah campers the class was Islam and Politics. Surprisingly enough, the lecturer had decided to show us a perspective on "Hollywood's confrontation with Islam." We are to have discusssions on the films we are shown.

Day 1 - Monday 23rd July 2007 Girls' diary: After what seemed to be the longest flight ever, yet a very exciting one, we arrived at the airport. We got off the plane with a huge sigh of relief, which was more like sigh of excitement! WE HAD FINALLY REACHED!! Our journey of a lifetime had just begun. We didn't know what we were expecting. All we really had with us was the hope that we were going to have fun and by the friends we made we knew there was going to be no doubt about that. |
