After completing her A Levels in Biology, History and Sociology, Sister Aliya embarked upon a BA in Education Studies. She then went on to further her career in teaching and completed a Primary Post Graduate Certificate in Education in early 2008.
Aliya also has excellent experience of studying in Iran. Having spent one year at Jamiatuz Zahra in 2005, she managed to complete the one year foundation course consisting of Farsi and Hawza subjects such as ahkam, akhlaq, tareekh and aqaid. Aliya hopes to be able to continue her Islamic studies in the near future.
Sister Aliya states, "Having attended the 2007 Madinah al-Ilm course as a mentor has given me a wealth of experience into how best to interact with youths. It offered me an understanding into the spiritual side of the camp, which many of the youths are searching for. After having experienced the camp and having reflected on it, I think there are many areas which I could try and work on, with the other mentors, to make the whole trip a more spiritually uplifting one."
