The Islamic Cultural Affairs Committee (ICA) held a brainstorming session for its team members on 12th November 2006 at the Husaini Islamic Centre, Peterborough to refocus its main aims & objectives and prioritise its tasks for the forthcoming year.
The session was well facilitated by Br Shabbar Dhalla and was also attended by the COEJ President, Br Munawer Rattansey and Vice-President, Dr Hussein Jiwa which highlighted the importance and significance of the meeting.
After ground rules were set (most importantly that mobile phones were kept on silent!) attendees were asked to identify what they felt the ICA’s role ideally should be. This resulted in a varied spectrum of thoughts and ideas and helped to build a strong platform from which the ICA can serve the needs of the community. The chairman of the ICA, Br Razahussein Rahim had this to say about the session: “This was a very fruitful and thought provoking meeting to help us to chart our way forward to become a fit for purpose committee, in view of many additional responsibilities this committee will be expected to carry out in Europe.” The meeting produced considerable output which is being collated and will form part of the ICA’s report.
