Earthquake - 27 February 2008 E-mail
An Earthquake Measuring 5.2 on the Richter Scale, in early hours of Wednesday 27 February 2008 with its epicenter was recorded five miles east of Market Rasen, Lincolnshire, and 14 miles south-west of Grimsby, England. For the purposes of Namaz- e-Ayat we have sought advice from the office of Ayatullah Seestani in London and were advised accordingly:
A. If the earthquake was experienced and felt by an individual then Namaz-e-Ayat becomes obligatory and if it was not recited then the qaza is wajib.

B. If the earthquake was neither experienced nor felt, due to sleep for example, then the recitation of Namaz e Ayat is not obligatory and hence no qaza either.

You may access some useful masail related to the performance of Namaz-e-Ayat: http://www.al-islam.org/laws/ayaat.html
