Aim The main aim of the board is to work towards improving the health and well being of our community.
Objectives - To initiate, facilitate and support medical subcommittees in every Jamaat.
- To work with the jamaats to organise programmes of health improvement.
- To work with the jamaats to get our members to make effective use of the National Health Service (NHS) for treatment and for screening services.
- To work with the jamaats to identify all health professionals within the community and engage them in health improvement activities.
- To work with the MAB of the World Federation in supporting the current programmes.
- To work with the MAB in developing new programmes of health improvement at an international level.
- To work with jamaats to access resources available for health improvement from government organisations.
- To work with other national muslim and non-muslim organisations with similar aims and objectives.
- To work with other COEJ structures to provide health input e.g. European Hajj Mission.
Structure
The HIB should be made up of: - Chair to be appointed by COEJ.
- 4 members appointed by the chair of HIB
- one representative from each of the jamaats subcommittees.
It is proposed that the current MAC members form the core group of HIB until it evolves in to its new shape as the immediate action plan is completed.
Accountability The board will be accountable to COEJ by reporting at every council meeting. The chair of HIB will also be accountable and will report to the President of the council. Support Until a full action plan is prepared there is no immediate financial support necessary. However, the COEJ secretariat should provide administration and secretarial support to HIB. Action plan - to work with the jamaats to establish medical subcommittees.
- to identify a representative from each of these subcommittees to join the HIB.
- to prepare a comprehensive document which will be a single point of reference and contain realistic workable proposals. It will consist of the following
vision state of health of our community- health profile, demographics, priorities for health improvement specific plans linked to the priorities. Detail action plans for achievement of the objectives. Financial framework Resources Evaluation - to work with MAB in achieving the objectives.
- to organise an away day of all those members in Europe who can contribute to the development of the above document, to share ideas and develop practical action plans.
