Alhamdulillah this year, the standard of the campers was high intellectually and educationally. The organisers therefore decided to raise the standard of the camp by introducing more challenging quizzes, debates and higher levels of communication and public speaking skills. It was also decided to have an essay competition titled Sweden 2003 - My Experiences. The campers had a deadline of 10 days after the camp to submit their essays of 600 words maximum.
18 campers submitted their essays. The writings were good; the styles were varied and interesting; the experiences quoted were personal and well chosen to suit the length of the essay.
The 4 judges independently decided that the one and only first prize of £100 cash should go to Ali Qasim Raza The winning essay is being reproduced herewith in full. All the essays will Inshallah be published in due course.
