Iran Boys Summer Camp 2004 - Report E-mail

A Pre-camp seminar was held at Dar –al –Tableegh on Sunday 20th June 2004  for the participants of this year's Iran Summer camp. The Education committee of the Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ) and the Shia Ithna Asheri Madressa (SIM) jointly held an orientation seminar for this year's Iran Campers. Two groups, one under The Education Committee of The Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ) and the other The Madressa group under the Shia Ithna Asheri Madressa (SIM) are organising a religious and cultural trip to Iran under the patronage of the Islamic Education Board of the World Federation.

The Education Committee of The Council of European Jamaats (CoEJ)'s campers range from 18 to 23 year old boys from across Europe whilst the Shia Ithna Asheri Madressa (SIM) has an age range of 15 to 17 year boys across the UK. This year's course is unique in that for the first time ever, this course is being held under the Memorandum signed between International Centre of Islamic Studies, Qum (ICAS), Madrasah Imam Ali (AS) , Qum and the Islamic Education Board (IEB). The active participation of Markaz (ICAS) this year is a unique step that will go a long way is establishing this course as a recognised one and the eventual goal is to make it global for all regions to benefit.

The seminar was attended by all participants from both groups and the participants benefited with specifics of the course, the preparation required and a general overview of what to expect on the course in Iran . Amongst those who addressed the participants included  the principal of Madrasah Imam Ali (AS) - Qum , Syed Salman Naqvi and Sheikh Mohamed Ali Ismail who has been the liaison contact with the group and Madrasah, both of whom flew in from Iran to be present at the seminar.

You can follow the camp, whilst in progress by logging on to www.camp.coej.org from the 17 th July 2004 , when the campers will be in Iran .
