The Muballigheen Training Programme, organised by The World Federation on behalf of the worldwide community, is a four year post-graduate course in Islamic Studies for married couples under the age of 30. The course seeks to provide students with the necessary knowledge and skills to return to their communities as Islamic leaders. The course is designed to also teach the students the practical aspects of a Resident Aalim’s position in a community.

The programme was launched in 2007, when one couple from USA and one from England arrived in Damascus. The concentration in the first year has been learning Arabic, the language of instruction in later years, and the correct recitation of the Qur’an. All the four students are progressing beyond expectations. With their newly acquired knowledge of Arabic, the students are able to understand Majalises and Khutbas in the Haram of Seyyida Zaynab (a.s.)

The management team of the Institute has now put in place the lecturers and lesson plans for the modules that are to be taught in the second year at the Institute. Specialists in their fields have been carefully selected to fit the IIPS standards of excellence and to ensure the modules are addressing the practical needs of the community. This includes four Adjunct Professors to lecture modules that will make up the Western-style academic syllabus.

As last year’s entrants to IIPS move on to the second year, the Institute is now accepting applications from not more than 15 couples, to start the four year programme in Damascus on Saturday 6 September 2008, 5 Ramadhaan 1429.
